In a blink of an eye, the year has whizzed past & its coming to the end of 2009. Not too good a year for me so I'm glad its going to be over real soon. Phew...
The good things :
- A very much travelled year for me - Macau, KL, Bintan, Bali & Bangkok. Shiok!
- Finally put on the square hat & attended the graduation ceremony with the presence of my loved ones. (I'm a grad! Woohoo!!)
- My dearest babe's ROM & customary wedding
- My love's big 3-0 birthday
- Long-awaited increment upon attainment of my degree
- Meeting my other half, Ryan baby.
- Ballot for HDB BTO flats
The not-so-good things :
- Super unpleasant incident in JB causing the loss of so many precious items. (Damn the bugger!)
- Toothache followed by extraction (Ouch!)
- Down with tonsilitis for a good 2mths & frequently sick (*crossing fingers*)
- Still in the same shit job with the still shitty pay after increment (WTF!)
- I'm 28 already! Damn! (Nooo......)
Anyway, I wanna wave goodbye to 2009 & welcome 2010! I hope for better health, better job, more money, more TLC, more holidays & if possible to get married! LOL... Happy New Year my dear frens! Cheers to a great year ahead! =)

Ikoi Japanese Restaurant @ Hotel Miramar

I've heard about how nice the ala-carte buffet was but didnt have the chance to try it out until last night - Surprise Birthday dinner for Zann planned by The Alchy Gang.
Ikoi Japanese Restaurant offers a gastronomic indulgence with an endless parade of authentic Japanese cuisines perfectly set in a lush Japanese setting. The restaurant is rather small & cramped but lucky we had the reservation in the VIP room for 12 pax. Sashimi lovers will just love the selection of fresh & generously sliced sashimi - salmon, tuna, swordfish, yellow-tail, etc. I think we hoot a total of 8 or 9 sashimi boats! A variety of sushi, handrolls, maki & fried items together with udon, ramen, curry rice were available. Items such as ebi tempura, salmon skin & california handrolls, kani bacon & agedashi tofu were the favourites cos we ordered excessively & were all stuffed at the end of the meal. They serve complimentary 1-time add-on items like the salmon sashimi appetizer and teapot soup which was a very nice touch to the meal. Service was excellent with the staff checking on us regularly to see if we have any orders or requests. Dinner is priced at $33++ which is quite reasonable considering the endless sashimi u can eat. Haaa...
No pics taken cos I din have my camera with me! argh... But I'm sure I will go back there again cos I'm missing the salmon sashimi already... yumz... =p

Zann's Birthday cum Xmas Celebration ~ 18.12.09
It's the last birthday celebration of the year in our group. Ling & I decided to check out this new place District 10 in Newton area this time round for the celebration. Zann thought we were going to Newton Circus for dinner & was complaining that it'll be hot there. LOL... Let the pictures do the talking then. Lastly, Happy Birthday Zann!! May u find Mr Right (tattoo-ed, smoker & tall enough) real soon!
Birthday surprise

Review of District 10 :
It was a pleasant surprise upon reaching cos the environment & ambience is real nice. Relaxing & great for chillout sessions. 1 star for nice ambience & environment & 1 star for being able to get a smoking table at a corner. But the food was of so-so standard & quite pricey. Service staff seems to be made up of mostly non-locals (Fillipinos it seems to be), speak poor English or rather English that we dont reali understand. E.g. Killkeny pronounced as Killkana, Bangers & Mash pronounced as Bungers & mash. Duhz.. The staff weren't attentive & alert too.
The last straw came when the wrong bill was brought to us. It was partially our fault for not checking b4 we handed over the cash. But we realised it b4 we left & told the Fillipino guy. He brought the wrong bill back & came back with the wrong bill asking us to return the change before he gets us the correct bill. We didnt rem the exact amount of change we got back so we asked him to check. He "errr... ahhh..." & said he thinks it should be this amount. Zann got pissed & told him to go back & calculate or check with the cashier. He returned with the correct bill (which turned out to be more ex) & still did not manage to tell us how much we should return back. So we got him to go back to check & tell us how much we should top up instead. Another Fillipino lady came over to apologise for the wrong bill & explained that he's a new staff blah blah blah. After much trouble, we were asked to top up the amount of $7.77 & Ling threw a sentence at the lady "Your service is not up to standard." All the lady did was to say "I'm sorry Mam" & went off. Not being discriminating here, but they reali shouldnt be working in service line.
Verdict : Not going back there again.

Avatar
I'm not one to go for such movies usually but decided to give it a go this time & acc BB since he wanted to watch it so much. I must say it's reali good. A worthy 2.5 hours with top-notch visual effects & entertaining storyline.

Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. More than ten years in the making, Avatar marks Cameron's return to feature directing since helming 1997's Titanic, the highest grossing film of all time and winner of eleven Oscars including Best Picture. WETA Digital, renowned for its work in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong, will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photorealistic 3D imagery that will transport the audience into the alien world rich with imaginative vistas, creatures and characters.

Bali Getaway ~ 26-30 November 2009
5D4N getaway to Bali was a well-needed break. So much for hearing how pretty the place it is but I didn’t think it was actually that impressive afterall. Very run-down kinda place, I find. Forgetting abt the initial disappointment, our 1st pleasant surprise was a FOC upgrade from pool villa to suite villa at Rama Beach resort! I guess I have the luck with FOC upgrades at hotels & resorts since this is the 3rd time already… hahaha… We had exclusive VIP service throughout our stay there. Shiok! I love the villa so much that I think I can just laze around the whole day. =p
Overall, the trip was not too bad with my 1st experience out in the deep sea & I mean literally bobbing up & down in the middle of sea (I’m a non-swimmer & have a slight phobia of deep waters). Snorkelling, banana boat ride & kayaking was fun! The 1 day land tour was not too bad either. Visits to the few interesting places such as the volcano, monkey forest, spice garden, watching sunset at Tanah Lot & seafood at Jimbaran made the trip a more memorable one. If u are looking to shop, it’s not reali a good choice cos there’s not much to buy. Clubbing at Legian area was also an eye-opener. The club is filled with ang-mohs & so damn happening!
But I find that expenses there are exorbitant & the weather is simply too hot! Just few steps out under the sun & I’m perspiring like mad! Massages are cheap though. The one we went was slightly expensive but a full body massage only costs around S$14 so still worth it. =p
Now that I’ve been & seen Bali for myself but I don’t think I will be there again. Nevertheless, it was a experience for me & quality time spent. =)

I need a new job
It’s been all money-spending for the past weeks including mummy’s birthday, Bali trip & my sis’ birthday. I wish I earn tons of money which replenishes on its own when reaching its low. Gosh… I need a new job. Whoever says having a degree has a higher chance of getting a job. No, it’s not the case. It’s so sickening. Gets so demoralizing just staying here for 1 more day. No AWS (when ppl are complaining they dun get or there’s a cut in BONUS but still get AWS), no benefits & welfare like taking away our dental benefits, revising medical benefits, CNY & Xmas celebration, D&D & many more (ppl are still complaining when they have). I’m amazed at myself for being here coming to 5 years already. I freaking need a new job.
** Will be blogging on the birthdays & Bali trip soon.
