Welcome back ~ From Cleo

Hohoho... I won a J.Lo Fragrance Hamper from some lucky draw which I took part in Cleo 2mths back (i think?). Didn't sound very wow but when I got the items, it's actually quite nice. The kinda fragrance I love, nice bottles, comes with an anklet & HP accessory. Not too bad.

It's like a "Welcome Back" gift from Cleo cos I haven't been buying & reading since ages ago.

Nice ending to a Blue Monday. =)

Sooooooo tired.....

I reali need a vacation badly. Seriously. I'm crushing beneath the heaps of work, a terrorising & loathesome senior & the lack of good quality sleep.

Counting down to upcoming vacay is my motivation.

Forgotten

I'm just getting lazy & simply no time & inspiration for blogging nowadays. With my almost-crashing pc, it's not helping much either. I wish I had more time on hand sometimes but I think I need more quality sleep. Haaa...

It's the payroll period, my love-hate relationship. I'm looking forward to the next payroll already cos it'll be the vacation I can look forward to after the madness! Yay!!

Random blogging...

It's been 2 weeks!! Mentally taxing!!! Has been such a busy & tiring 2 weeks. It's the payroll aka NIGHTMARE week now... gosh... Dont think i'm in the right state of mind for some blogging. =(

But anyhow here's some back-dated pics of our dinner at Different Taste together with keong, rose, BB, Anthony & Yvonne. Keong has been raving abt this place & of cos the food in particular the fish head curry. Personally, I find the fish head curry so-so only. But the prawns in black sauce, hae-cho & the prawn cake was superb. This place boasts of restaurant quality food at “Zhi Char” prices. Oh well, i will give it a 6 out of 10. Anyhow, here's the pics for Isa's viewing since she cant make it that day. =p

It's been a week!

Yes, it has been a week since I started on the new job. Still in the adapting stage & I have to admit it's reali taxing on me. Weariness is clearly shown on my face. But I will persist & survive through this phase. =)

Pros of new job :

1. I get to msn officially! Yeah! No restrictions except for FB.

2. No dealings with external customers anymore.

3. I have my DID phone line.

4. I'm an EXECUTIVE now. Ha!

5. I have endless of new things to learn.

6. I can 光明正大 go on smoke breaks.

7. I have flexible & longer lunchtime.

8. I'll get 30% discount off meals at outlets after confirmation. Woohoo... FOOD!

9. This is a stepping stone for me.

Cons of it :

1. I have to wake up earlier than before. Yawnz....

2. I spend more $ & time on transport.

3. I dont get to drink FOC kopi-gao made by pantry aunty anymore. I have to pay $1.40 every morning. Soon, it'll be 3 in 1. Grr....

4. I realised I'm over-dressed! NB! The already normal & smart casual stuff i wore when i was in Cali is abit over the edge in that environment. Duhz.... But i dont care. =p

5. To take extra care in terms of dealings with ppl there. I'm no longer an "old bird". Now I realised how safe I was in Cali. I dont want to become an outcast. So far still doing good though. *praying hard*

Ok, seems to be more pros than cons. Hahaha... anyhow, I hope it'll only get better in future. =)

Dim-Sum Sunday

The temptation of dim-sum is huge that my mum can drag me out of bed at 7am on a Sunday morning. Note : Sunday leh! I dont wake up until like earliest 12noon!

Swee Choon Tim Sum was featured in 1 of our local TV programme quite sometime back. Wanted to try once previously but it was closed by the time we arrived. So this time round, we were the early birds & were there at 8am. Not the best dim sum I've had so far but it's definitely value for money. Char siew bao & chee cheong fun are the HK style kinds so I dont reali like it. Location not too accessible but it's real near to Mustafa. It's open till late so it's a good place to have supper as an alternative to the one at Geylang.

Goodbye

Today is the day I bid farewell to the place & ppl I have been with for the past 5 years. It still seems very unreal that this day has finally come. I know I am going to miss the place & ppl a whole lot, reali. This is where I spent the majority of my working life in, practically my 2nd home in these years.

The job wasn’t that bad in the 1st few years but it has evolved into something which I hate doing. There’s no longer any learning space cos everything is just at the fingertips & it’s so mundane. It’s all about the JOB. But this place has nurtured me to be the person I am now, much better in a way. I have had the honour to see & also be part of the many changes in the Company. It has pushed me to the limits so many at times but I’m glad that I came out of the situations much stronger than I thought. This is also the place where I forged many valuable friendships which I will treasure greatly. Of cos there are also ppl whom I grow to hate & always felt like twisting their heads off. Oh well, these are all part & parcel of it all.

It’s time to say goodbye & I think I will cry. Goodbye Cali.

It's like FINALLY

Just a mere 2 weeks away before I undertake the new challenge. The feeling is somehow amazing with a mixture of anticipation & nervous. Starting from the basics, no fantastic benefits, nothing-to-wow-about monetary rewards, a further away location with pre-warned supposedly monthly department conflicts BUT this is the opportunity I have been waiting for God knows how long. This is the advancement I want although it has come a bit later. Few will really understand how painstakingly this process has been. I don’t need to explain cos who knows me KNOWS me. It’s like FINALLY.

SINGAPORE, Jan 22 - McDonald's apologised to Singapore on Friday and brought a pig back to its toy menu, after a decision to leave the animal out of its Chinese zodiac collection upset many in the predominantly ethnic Chinese nation. McDonald's this month started selling cartoon character miniatures depicting the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac calendar, but the pig was replaced by love god Cupid as McDonald's said it did not want to offend Muslims.

But the move, just ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday and Valentine's Day in February, backfired as many Chinese customers complained in chatrooms and blogs that they would not have a chance to buy the animal sign of their birth year.

"We're sorry, and we're grateful," the fast food chain said in a half-page advertisement in the Straits Times newspaper, saying it never intended to offend anyone.

Multi-racial Singapore has successfully avoided racial tension since deadly riots in the 1960s, though the government sees race as the biggest potential fault line in society.

"I understand that we need to respect our Muslim citizens as Singapore is a multiracial and multicultural society," Pauline Koh, whose daughter was born in the Year of Pig, wrote to the Straits Times.

"However, in this case, the Pig is one of the Chinese zodiac signs -- part of Chinese culture and customs -- and it is just a soft toy, not food," she wrote. Around 75 percent of the nearly 5 million population in Singapore is ethnically Chinese and 15 percent is Malay or Indian Muslim. McDonald's and many other fastfood chains sell food that is halal, or acceptable to Muslims.
Pork and other pig products are not halal food.

Hachiko : A Dog's Story

This heartwarming true story is an American adaptation of a Japanese tale about a loyal dog named Hachiko. This very special friend would accompany his master to the train station every day and return each afternoon to greet him after work. Sadly his master departs one day, passes away and never returns to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot at the station the very next day, and every day for the next nine years to wait for his beloved master. Review : This movie is just so sad & touching. I am so into the movie that it got me crying (not just tears welling up that kind). Imagine u hear sniffing from the 2nd half of movie in the theatre, u will know how it is like. BB didnt know how to react when he heard me cry so he chose to ignore. Grr.....

26-29 Dec 2009~Our Bangkok trip - as usual, I didnt buy a lot & it didnt help much that I was there with someone who dont shop! Hahaha... Massages & food were great of cos! Overall, it was a nice getaway with BB. =)

31 Dec 2009~NYE was spent at Mono @ St James for The Alchy Gang's CEO, Simon Tan's Big 30th Birthday. It was a blast & its been soooooo long since i last joined in a countdown outside, not to mention at a club too. Damn fun! Lucky we had rides home else I think we would be very much stranded outside St James until 6am.

2 Jan 2010~Day out with Love & Dom - KTV, zi char dinner followed by ice cream @ Icekimo is enough to make our day a great one. =) Of cos the company matters too.
